⁴ Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”

³⁷ Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”

¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)

³ So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb.^{(A) 4} Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. ⁵ He bent over and looked in^(B) at the strips of linen^(C) lying there but did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,

⁷ Then the disciple whom Jesus loved^(A) said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.
